Washington/Tehran – June 25, 2025 | By WSN 024 News Desk
Former U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed today that the United States will hold a high-level diplomatic meeting with Iran "next week," just days after launching a series of precision airstrikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure.
In a press briefing held in Florida, Trump stated, “The nuclear sites have been destroyed. They won’t be a threat anymore. Now they want to talk — we will meet them next week.” Trump did not disclose the exact date or location of the upcoming meeting.
Airstrikes on Nuclear Sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Arak
According to sources in the U.S. Department of Defense, the airstrikes targeted three major facilities:
- Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant – Located deep underground near Qom.
- Natanz Nuclear Facility – Iran’s largest uranium enrichment center.
- Arak Heavy Water Reactor – Believed to be used for plutonium production.
Satellite imagery shared by defense analysts indicates significant damage to infrastructure and support buildings. However, Iranian officials have downplayed the extent of the damage, claiming “limited disruption” and denying loss of nuclear capabilities.
Iran responds, accuses us of “state terrorism”
Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, calling it a violation of international law and “an act of state terrorism.” Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei vowed that Iran would “respond proportionally and strategically,” though he confirmed Iran would still attend the proposed talks.
Global Reaction
The United Nations Secretary-General has urged both nations to de-escalate tensions, while Russia and China expressed concern over the legality of the U.S. strikes. NATO allies remained largely silent, pending confirmation of the facts on the ground.
What to Expect from the Talks?
Experts believe the U.S.-Iran meeting could focus on renegotiating a nuclear deal and easing sanctions. However, with both sides hardening their positions, skepticism remains about any real breakthrough.
