Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched 653 drones and 51 missiles overnight. Most were intercepted, but several hit key infrastructure targets across multiple regions.
Fastiv railway hub heavily damaged
One of the most serious strikes occurred in Fastiv, a vital railway junction southwest of Kyiv. The explosion destroyed the station building, damaged rolling stock, and disrupted transportation lines.
Emergency teams are working on restoration, but full service revival may take days due to extensive structural damage. Injuries were reported, though official numbers are still awaited.
Energy, military, and port facilities targeted
Moscow claimed it targeted military-industrial facilities and logistical hubs, but Ukrainian authorities reported damage to energy grids, resulting in temporary outages in several regions including Kyiv, Odesa, and Vinnytsia.
Macron announces London visit
French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the strikes and announced a high-level meeting in London involving Ukrainian, British, and German leaders.
“We must continue to put pressure on Russia to force it towards peace,” Macron posted on X.
The meeting is expected to focus on tightening sanctions and coordinating further military support for Ukraine.
US–Ukraine talks make ‘steady progress’
US and Ukrainian delegations meeting in Florida expressed optimism regarding long-term defense, economic and security agreements. Negotiations are progressing on:
- Long-term US defense and financial commitments
- Advanced air-defense assistance
- Post-war reconstruction funds
- Security guarantees with NATO partners
According to officials, discussions remain confidential but constructive.
Analysis
Experts say the strikes reflect a dual strategy by Moscow: apply battlefield pressure while Western allies accelerate diplomatic and military support for Kyiv.
