An Israeli airstrike on Thursday struck a group of civilians gathered outside a health center in the city of Deir Al Balah, central Gaza, leaving 15 people dead, according to medical staff and local officials. The Aqsa Martyrs Hospital reported that eight of the victims were children between two and fourteen years old. Witness video showed children lying motionless and others being carried away for treatment. Three women and four men also died in the attack.

The Israeli military said it was targeting a Hamas fighter allegedly involved in the October 7, 2023, assault on Israel. A spokesperson confirmed that the incident is under review, adding: "The IDF regrets any harm to uninvolved individuals and operates to minimize such harm as much as possible."
