In the past 24 hours, Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire have killed at least 70 people across Gaza. Many of the casualties are women and children. Health authorities say hundreds more have been injured.
Over the past month, the humanitarian crisis has grown worse. According to local health officials, more than 549 civilians have died while trying to access food, clean water, and medical supplies. Many were gathering near aid distribution points when they were either targeted or caught in crossfire.
Israel states that its operations are aimed at Hamas militants and their infrastructure. However, residents and human rights organizations report that homes, schools, and hospitals have been repeatedly bombed. They call this “collective punishment” against Gaza’s population.
The United Nations and several governments have called for an immediate ceasefire, warning that the humanitarian disaster is escalating daily. Aid organizations have demanded safe corridors to deliver emergency supplies.
So far, no agreement has been reached to stop the conflict, and people in Gaza fear the death toll will continue to rise.
